Reverend Evalyn Wakhusama has come full circle from the small rural town of Nambale, Kenya, where she grew up. Her life’s journey to Nairobi, then Yale Divinity School, foundation of a Kenyan charitable organization (THE KENYA TEAM) and foundation of a ground-breaking, life-changing, community-enhancing school in Nambale has been remarkable.
Evalyn Wakhusama gathered a team of professional women from her work and church communities. Together, they founded the Women’s Initiative for Knowledge and Survival, a Kenyan Non-Governmental Organization whose largest project is the Nambale Magnet School.
WIKS-USA, Inc. is an all volunteer, registered 501 (c) (3) charitable organization whose purpose is to promote quality educational experiences for underprivileged children in Kenya, particularly those orphaned or otherwise rendered vulnerable by the AIDS pandemic. Its officers, directors and committee members bring a diverse set of skills to assist the development of the Nambale Magnet School.
