The mission of the Nambale Magnet School is to be the center of excellence in education by providing quality education and vocational training for the real world.
Children in sub-Saharan Africa at the beginning of the 21st century are extraordinarily vulnerable due to drought, famine and HIV/AIDS. Many remain orphaned, with no extended family, because of HIV/AIDS and related diseases.
The dream of a residential school for children orphaned or rendered vulnerable by the AIDS crisis in the small and under-served community of Nambale in rural western Kenya is coming true at the Nambale Magnet School. Through quality education, our dream is one of changed lives for NMS students.
Both environmental and financial sustainability have been priorities at the School from the start; even before the first shovel hit the ground. Current measures to support self-sustainability include natural resource conservation projects, agricultural initiatives and school fees paid by families who are able.
P.E. is nine years old, in his third year at the Nambale Magnet School. He is in the Primary One class with Ms. Arion’go.
He loves science and football, anything green and his hobby is planting trees. At supper time, a mixture of maize and beans will bring a smile to his face.
P.E. is part of the Scouting Club, and his aspiration is to be a policeman one day. We are glad he is getting such a good start on that dream at the Nambale Magnet School!
